Modem AT Commands
ThistechnicalnoteoutlinescompatibleATcommandsthatmaybeusedwith
PowerLogic®IONmetersequippedwiththe internalmodemoption.AT
commandscontrolamodem’soperationandareusefulforsettingupthemodem
(forexample,ifyouwanttoturnoffthemodem’sautoanswerfeature).AllAT
commandsbegin
withthecharactersAT,whichisshortfor “attentioncode”.This
iswhatalertsthemodemthat acommandisfollowingimmediately.
CAUTION
Adding, removing or changing AT commands should only be performed by qualified individuals. Putting
improper code in the modem configuration string could cause the modem to become inoperable.
DependingontheIONmeteranditsdateofmanufacture,theinstalledoptional
internalmodemcouldbeoneoftwodifferentbrands.TheConexantmodemisthe
oldertypemodem,andisavailableinNorthAmerican(FCCapproved)or
European(CTR‐21compliant)versions.Thenewermodemismanufacturedby
Multi
‐Techandisauniversalmodemthatcanbereadilyusedinmostcountries,
andcomplieswithFCC,IndustryCanadaandTBR‐21regulations.
Containedinthisdocu me ntisasectionexplaininghowyoucandeterminewhich
typeofmodemisinstalledonyourIONmeter,asectionthatlistsAT
command
