Chapter 5 – Network-to-Serial Connectivity Using Dialout
Command Line Interface and Application Examples for Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. IP Modules (S000368F) 74
Scenario 4 – Dialout Serial s1
In this scenario, the dialout session to serial s1 (built-in modem) is opened.
• The dialout serial s1 command helps to send the AT command to the modem and get a response without
being in the modem-bypass mode.
• When the dialout command is issued, it kills the application running on s1. For example, if PPP is
established in dialing or answering mode, it is killed when the dialout command is issued. Once dialout is
closed, the appropriate application is started on s1.
• The functionality is similar to the transparent mode. Here there is no need to restart the module. By issuing the
command "dialout serial s1" from '#' prompt, the dialout session is initiated and the user can interact with the
modem.
