RF550VPN/RF560VPN Reference Guide – Using Advanced Settings 20
Example 4
Kiwi Syslog Server
This example explains how to install and use a Kiwi Syslog Server to capture syslog messages sent from
the RF550VPN/RF560VPN. The Kiwi Syslog Daemon software is included on the CD that comes with
the RF550VPN/RF560VPN. A user can install the Kiwi software at a workstation on the LAN side of the
RF550VPN/RF560VPN, and monitor from this workstation, the messages generated by the
RF550VPN/RF560VPN. A similar configuration to example one will be used for this example, but the
RF550VPN/RF560VPN does not require configuration as a Virtual Server to interface with a Kiwi Syslog
Server. This example shows how to configure the RF550VPN/RF560VPN to generate system logs and
how to install the Kiwi software on the Windows 2000 system, with IP address 192.168.2.100, located on
the LAN.
Configuring the RF550VPN/RF560VPN
1. Access the RF550VPN/RF560VPN with a web browser from a workstation on the LAN.
2. Enable the system log function at the RF550VPN/RF560VPN by clicking on the Administration
Settings button on the left side of the Advanced Settings screen.
3. Place a check mark in the boxes for Enable System Log Function and Enable Detail Debug IPSec
Log.
4. For the Log server IP address, enter the IP address of the LAN workstation that will have Kiwi
Syslog Daemon installed. (Ex: 192.168.2.100)
5. Click on Submit at the bottom of the screen to save the data you have entered.
